Form I-485 for the spouse of a U.S. citizen

This workflow is for a routine immediate-relative spouse who is already in the United States after inspection and admission or parole. It supports a Form I-130 filed together, pending, or approved.

Form I-130 and Form I-485 are separate government filings. Do you hold, or have you held, diplomatic status, rights, privileges, or immunities that may need to be waived?
Are you currently in removal, exclusion, rescission, or deportation proceedings?
Have you ever been removed or deported, or returned unlawfully after a departure or removal?
Have you ever been arrested, cited, charged, detained, or convicted anywhere, even if the record was cleared?
Have you ever used fraud or willfully misrepresented an important fact to seek a U.S. visa, admission, or immigration benefit?
Has a prior Form I-485 been denied or treated as abandoned?
Is there abuse, coercion, or a safety concern that may make it unsafe to rely on the petitioning spouse?
Have you overstayed, violated immigration status, or worked without authorization?

A yes answer does not automatically block a spouse of a U.S. citizen, but it must be disclosed accurately.
